Music Makes Me High

Sue Turner, singer-songwriter and musician thankfully decided to live a life of passion. She writes and performs songs on the guitar and keyboard in her characteristic vulnerable and reflective style. Her music is a clear voice spoken from deep in the heart, a place she's obviously well acquainted with. Her stage presence is filled with humility and quiet humour, while she subtly commands your attention.

Sue started her musical journey in the blues, with her Vancouver band, Sue Turner and the Blues Gurus. Her unstoppable desire to live a creative life took her to Vancouver Community College to study contemporary piano for a year followed by a songwriting phase on Galiano Island. Here she got involved in the local movement to preserve forestland and found the challenges that face our world to be a spring of inspiration for songwriting. Living in the countryside, she found that a life immersed in creativity made more sense than anything else and she found that it could easily be combined with her part-time work as a foot doctor. She went on to complete a second year of music school at Selkirk College in Nelson, BC. where she explored her love of vocal harmonies and fusing different styles of music to create an original sound, lyrics and groove.

Currently, she is launching a self-expression collective, Free Phoebe Productions, as a vehicle to create musical and self-expressive events in her community.

Sue has recently released a collection of 7 songs in her debut CD, All My Graces. Her straightforward lead vocals, poetically delightful lyrics and lush full harmonies beautifully capture her unique voice and raw talent. Her soul, and wry sense of humour, are woven into this quirky and wonderful collection of songs.
